Bahrain Success for CPCL
As one of the world’s longest established cathodic protection specialists, CPCL is often at the forefront of events around the world. And last week at the 16th Middle East Corrosion Conference in Bahrain, Project Sales Engineer Rob Harvey flew the company flag giving a well-received presentation to a packed hall from the main stage.
Working in close partnership with Bahrain agent Newtech International, CPCL’s Rob Harvey and Joe Coburn attended the biennial event. The star attraction on the stand was the newly developed Switch Mode Power Supply system, coupled with the Remote Monitoring & Control System, which Joe demonstrated live for the first time. The new system created considerable interest amongst visitors to the stand, including the Under-Secretary of the EWA Bahrain, who opened the conference.
CPCL had previously submitted a paper to the NACE / MECC Committee, entitled Transformer Rectifier Installation for the Tangier Med II Port Project. It therefore fell to co-author Rob Harvey to present the paper at the conference, explaining how CPCL was able to develop and install the world’s largest Thyristor Transformer Rectifier system. The project, which has now clocked up over 11 million channel operating hours, was one of CPCL’s biggest to date. Rob’s presentation generated much interest, and the project’s lead engineer, Joe Coburn, was on hand to answer the many questions after.
The whole event was highly successful, and CPCL is very grateful to Newtech International for organising and hosting the stand. We look forward to close working ties with our Bahrain partners in the future.
